Letter

Hi Sarah

I'm writing to you about a worsening problem I'm having with one of the lead plaintiffs in the Oak Ridge class action lawsuit. I'm a member of the Montreal Experiments Class Action which is moving forward in Quebec Superior Court.

I have known Ellen Atkin for 12 years. She has been challenging to deal with since I first met her in BC in March 2014. I won't go into that story here since it would barely fit in this email.

I don't really view myself as a "litigant" - I am a writer. In 2007, I self-published a memoir about growing up as the daughter of a Cameron patient in Montreal, along with other children who were inducted into his LSD experiments. I have researched this subject very thoroughly for over 20 years, and the more I find out, the more I feel compelled to write and share about this horrible program which existed at the fringes of mainstream science and damaged many lives.

Recently I have set up an oral history project for survivors of the Montreal Experiments, in connection with Concordia University's Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling. Ellen Atkin aka "MkultraGirl" is already attempting to undermine this effort despite the support it has been receiving at an early stage.

For some time she has been escalating her personal attacks on social media. Some posts are in public where I can see them and (sometimes) respond, but even a neutral response usually just triggers more attacks. I have tried diffusing, negotiating, ignoring, responding, minimizing, apologizing, reacting, ridiculing - nothing diminishes her rage or causes her to reflect on her own role in this made-up conflict.

Her posts on X and Facebook show someone detached from social reality as well as from basic rules of professional conduct. No claim she makes is ever backed up with evidence, because there really is none. Her extreme misstatements of fact would be easy to disprove if I had time, and if it would make a difference. She never retracts and lately has crossed a line into serious slander.

I can provide plenty of screenshots as examples.

Yesterday she began sharing your 2025 letter addressed "To Whom It May Concern", as proof that she is an official lead plaintiff in the St Thomas case -- as opposed to what she calls my "fraudulent" claim to have been in the Allan Memorial along with my father in 1963.

She also reposted her claim to be the child in a much-publicized photo from a 1970 laboratory, representing millions of victims of secret MKULTRA experiments.

I have actual forensic proof that the photo is of another little girl, from a US Air Force family, and has nothing to do with Ellen or either class action she is involved with. Such an obviously false claim casts serious doubt on both our cases, and if ever brought up in court could ruin our chances for a legal settlement.

I think Ellen Atkin needs a clear warning to stop her misinformed and nasty attacks, not just on me, but others. Her continuing destructive behaviour weakens our position in what is already an uphill struggle for recognition and compensation.

This is unacceptable. I've been told I should take legal action against her for defamation but instead I'm just reaching out for some clarity.

Sincerely,

Ann Diamond
