It's a precise depiction of our summers in Canada in the early 60s. The scenery, the people, the corn roasts, the wharf, the church suppers, the clothing and hairstyles.

The lyrics... are exactly the conversation that we would have had, if there had been a conversation.

But others did all the talking apparently and the girl was not included. No one thought to ask her if she knew their plan for her. 

Without a doubt this is the craziest thing I ever heard of, but it happened. 

In Mohawk there is no word for "I apologize" -- there is only "I will make this right."

If I had known, I would have got down to business and making it right.

But (as I have explained) they made it impossible for me to know anything.

    Imagine being the waterskiing girl in the video being dragged along in the wake of an event she can't even remember...

    I guess my mom painted a beautiful picture, building up expectations of a happy ever after that got shattered in an instant. A girl so strangled, a mind so scrambled...

    Obviously my mother felt humiliated and decided to just cancel her plan... And the doctors were ready to oblige and offer Plan B: a career at the United Nations . They never explained that to me either.

    Obviously they never thought of trying to reason with me. I guess they didn't see me as human

    But it went even deeper. The scenes in these clips belonged to my father's world -

    But my dad was now a shadow. The same psychiatrists who brainwashed me had depatterned him and controlled my mother. She couldn't tell me anything because I might talk to the wrong people.

    "That's the world you stumbled into. It was all courtesy of British intelligence and the Vatican.

  Dear Ann, I've heard a more recent podcast by you talking about your family. Here's the quote: "The connections are all there, if people want to find them, you know. I can just talk & talk, um, you know. It has taken me years to realize I may have had another life that got erased. To say it was stolen from me by the doctors, is maybe an exaggeration or distortion. It was a combination of circumstances and choices that were made without anyone consulting me, which culminated in some kind of massive memory loss, similar to what was done to my father. Probably dad and I bonded over our shared amnesia. He would have known at least a part of the truth --  which had to be kept hidden from me for my own protection. So her and I almost never talked even during long hours in the country or in the car driving to school and back.  Probably it just boils down to the fact that I was too young to do what was set out for me by my elders. I was too shy and insecure and also too stubborn to play my part. Before my 14th birthday I at least had a chance at connecting with the boy of my dreams -- but by the time he showed up he was unrecognizable to the little mermaid who had known him as a young boy. T
